The man is going Airborne!

He passed his physical, so when he finishes his mechanics training this summer, he's off to Airborne School! Please continue to pray for his safety and health, and that he doesn't break himself jumping out of perfectly good airplanes!

After that, he might get asked to go to Ranger School too. He's about as happy as a kid at Christmas over the thought of that!

Don't worry, I'll kep you all posted!

Military Wish List

Aaryk made his preferences for permanent assignment this week. Instead of just telling the Army where you'd LIKE to go, they now give you a list of likely posts and have you choose among those. This way you still have a say in the matter, but it's much more realistic.

His choices are:

Fort Hood TX
Fort Bragg NC
Fort Huachuca AZ

The AZ post is not one of the likely ones on his list, but they do give it as an option for 3rd choice.

His overseas choices are:

Hawaii
Germany
Alaska

I know, you all are saying, "Alaska?!" But there were only for choices for the overseas part and the fourth choice is Korea. If he were to get stationed there, I couldn't go. I think I'd rather freeze and have him to keep me warm than be 1..2..3 years apart with only occasional visits!

So if you'd please keep these choices in your prayers for us, we'd appreciate it.

There's not a whole lot else to tell at the moment. He had his physical to get in to Airborne School yesterday, but won't know for a while if everything went ok.

If you are thinking about sending him a care package, here's some of his favorite treats (in case you need ideas):

**Jolly Ranchers- It's the one thing he actually TOLD me he'd like, and I almost forgot to put it on the list!
Chocolate covered espresso beans
Cheese Pringles
GOOD dark chocolate
Peanut Butter Cookies
Cinnamon Altoids
**Nuts- Cashews, peanuts, pistachios.
Magazines- Games, computers, Hmmm maybe popular mechanics?
Music- his roommate has a CD player, and Aaryk's taste in music is as varied as mine, so he'd enjoy just about anything

Stay away from anything with mint or coconut though...he can't stand either! He's also not much of a sweets fan, with very few exceptions.

I'll add to this list as I think of things over the next day or two, so use this as a guideline if you'd like, and be creative!

**updated items!

New Address for Aaryk

If any of you are interested, here's Aaryk's new address. He'll be here for at LEAST the next 12 weeks, and if he does well will stay a few weeks longer and get to specialize in an area.

Then...if he gets accepted, he's signed up for Airborne School! He's really looking forward to jumping out of perfectly good airplanes again!

Anyway, here's the address~

PV2 Drake, Aaryk
A co 143 ORD BN
Class 17B
Attn: DS Ignaszewski
APG (EA), MD 21010

Make sure you address it exactly this way, or he may have to do pushups to get the letter!

Oh, and also, he can now receive care packages!

Mail is still the high point of the day for him, so if you have a chance, please drop him a quick note, card, batch of peanut butter cookies, whatever! ;)

GRADUATION!!

Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, but I was recovering from my whirlwind trip to see Aaryk graduate from WTC.

Here are some pics!

  • Graduation 1

    • Graduation 2

    • It was a WONDERFUL trip, got to see Nana and Aunt Marion as well. I write more about it later.

I also have a new address for Aaryk, and I'll post it tonight (because I left it at home!)
