I'm here

Just a quick note (I know, that's all I seem to write these days!) to let you all know that I made it to Chicago just fine. I'm still getting settled in and trying to get the computer network up and running, so hopefully I'll be back to regular posts next week.

I have a whole bunch of pictures from Aaryk (he mailed me his camera after he broke it last month!) that I'll get posted as soon as I get organized.

Thanks for the prayers, good wishes, support and COMMENTS!

Signing off for a few

Just to let you all know that as of this afternoon my computer will be disassembled to be packed. If you need to get a hold of me, you can call me on my cell phone.

I should have Internet access again when I get to Chicago, sometime on Saturday evening.

Would you please remember me in your prayers, that Percy and I have a safe and uneventful trip?

Thanks!

Girls w/ power tools!

Ok, girl...singular. One of the remaining tasks for me today is the disassembling of our two computer desks. While they have been wonderful desks, they are just about 1/2 inch too wide to fit through the doors. We discovered this AFTER we had assembled the first one in the fall of '05, and laughed with (and at) the poor movers who had to break them down and reassemble them in our new house.

So, I had to make sure that I could take them apart by myself to get put out with the bulk trash tonight. I kept Aaryk's electric drill out, since I remembered that the mover's had used it when they went through this. I'm pretty pleased with myself that I figured out how to put the right bit in, tighten it down and got it going the right direction!

Aaryk had told me that he'd get better satisfaction out of taking a hammer to it, but for me, it's all about the power tools! I've still go my desk up for the remainder of the evening, but it will go out just before bedtime.

So, this may be the last update for a few days, until I get up to my folks' place in Illinois sometime on Saturday.

Just had to share my new found joy in using power tools with y'all. Next up, the router (what, you mean it doesn't plan road trips for you? Oh well, maybe not then!)

Guess what I got?!?!

A picture of my sweetie!

It's now my desktop background too! :)

Funny thing is, on my desktop wallpaper, I couldn't just center this pic. Doing that just showed a section out of the middle. Stretch was no good, so I tried Tile. Usually, that gives you multiples of the picture on your desktop. I guess this one is big enough that I only get his head and it's down in the corner. But it looks like he's peering out of my monitor at me, and that's kind of cool too!

I was just really jazzed about getting a picture of him!

Sorry for the lack of updates

With preparing to move and doing all of the last minute cleaning I haven't taken the time to keep you all updated, and I'm sorry for that.

During a break in my cleaning today, I found this article-

New plan for greater security

It's about what the 2nd BCT has been doing lately. I don't know how much of it Aaryk has been involved in, but he was out on a mission for several days last week. He's back and safe and trying to get caught up on work again. Even the things he COULD tell me about what he was doing he won't, he just doesn't want to talk or think about it any more than he has to. So, I know he's safe and that's really all that's important.

I leave Fort Bragg on Friday morning after my final housing check. At this point, I'm sleeping on an air mattress in the front bedroom with Percy's crate and the 2 desks. I have about a carload of misc boxes and lamps and stuff to go to the storage, and a couple of larger things like the TV and the computer desk chair that I'm going to ask one of my MCCW friends (with a minivan) for help with on Thursday. The desks get broken down and taken out with the trash on Tuesday night (they don't fit through the doors and so I'm NOT taking them with!), and so then everything will pretty much be done. I'm keeping my computer hooked up until Thursday, but won't have access after that until I get to West Chicago on Saturday night.

Oh, the MCCW (my bible study group) is giving me a farewell luncheon open house this Tuesday, and I'm so looking forward to that. I'm going to miss this group of ladies quite a bit!

So, most everything is done or nearly done but it's still going to be a busy week! Prayers for my stamina and sanity would be greatly appreciated!
