We're HOME

What a wild, strange trip it's been!

We left NC on Thursday about 4:30 pm Eastern and got in to Salado TX to my friend Cathy's house about 6:00pm Central on Friday. Aaryk drove through the night and stopped to rest just a couple of hours before dawn.

Friday night was early to bed, and then we took the car off the trailer and drove up to Ft. Hood (about 30 minutes) and picked up Brian. Of course, I left my camera in the truck, so the only pictures I got of him were on my phone. They came out pretty good though!

We took him up to Dallas to see Dad and Chris for lunch.
Mmmmmmm...Steak & Shake!

After a wonderful visit, we drove back down to Ft. Hood and took Brian to see The Incredible Hulk. We had lots of fun, and he and Aaryk even played the 'America's Army' video game together. Aaryk claims his gun wasn't working right, and that's why the punk kid beat him! ;)

We took him back to his room then, and headed back to Cathy's.

Sunday morning after Church and breakfast, we began the final leg of our trip. We pulled into Mesa in the early hours of Monday and thankfully were able to grab a nap at the Thomas' until the office opened so we could get our keys!

Monday was horribly hot and the A/C in the apartment wasn't working well. But, with the help of several good friends we got everything in.

So, now we are HOME!!!!!!!!!

Still unpacking, but making headway. We're having folks over on the 4th for a shindig, and then the job hunting starts in earnest.

So, to all of you who prayed for us, helped us out in one way or another, were there when we needed you, and especially those who helped make Aaryk's life downrange a little more tolerable-

We love and appreciate you more than we can adequately express!

FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so it's no 'Braveheart', but Aaryk was very glad to finally get DONE with his out processing!

The truck is packed with just a few exceptions (the computers obviously, and a couple of 'last minute' boxes), and we will be ready to roll shortly.

I don't remember who I've sent our itinerary to, but it looks a lot like a mad dash across country!

We should be at Ft. Hood TX on Friday lunchtime, and spent the weekend there visiting Brian and my family in Dallas, and staying with a friend from my bible study (whose husband got transferred to Ft. Hood last year!). We'll leave TX on Sunday afternoon with the plan of being in Mesa by 9am to get the keys to our apartment and unload the truck!

So, prayers for good travel conditions and safety on the road are VERY much appreciated!
